Calypso Uranium Corp. is a mineral exploration company whose principal focus is the acquisition, exploration and development of mineral properties, active in Argentina.
Calypso Uranium is active in Argentina with large highly prospective uranium properties located in the provinces of Chubut, Mendoza and Neuquén. The company is among the best positioned in Argentina to move from exploration to production given that several of the properties include resources previously confirmed by the Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica (CNEA - national atomic energy commission). Calypso Uranium is well funded to complete our planned acquisition and exploration programs and has the technical and project management expertise to expand to mine development and production.
Through our local subsidiary Energía Mineral (Inc.) S.A., Calypso has a fully staffed uranium exploration office located in Mendoza working closely with local communities while operating to the highest national and international health and environmental standards. To promote transparency and to build awareness and public understanding of uranium exploration, all our environmental impact assessment studies (available by individual project) and our "Radiological Safety and Protection Guide for Uranium Exploration" are posted on our website.
Calypso now controls more than 478,000 hectares or 4,780km2 of claims and mineral concession lands in Argentina. In Mendoza, these include: past uranium producers Huemul, Arroyo Seco and Agua Botada in the Pampa Amarilla district; La Pintada in the Sierra Pintada uranium district; and Ranquil-Co. In Neuquén these include: the Central Block, including the uranium districts of Chihuidos and Las Carceles; and the Campesino Norte Block. The Central block is the largest holding and represents the only uranium in situ leach potential project being explored in the country. In Chubut, these include properties in the San Jorge Basin. Details of individual Projects are available at "Projects".
Calypso Uranium is either alone or among very few active in uranium exploration in Argentina actually to have Argentineans on its Board of Directors and as Officers of the company, in addition to holding senior management positions. This brings the company unique management direction, deep appreciation of the local environment in which we operate and respect for the need to work closely with local communities and all levels of government.
On July 4, 2006, Calypso acquired beneficial ownership of 95% of the issued and outstanding shares of Energía Mineral S.A.(EMSA), a company incorporated under Argentine law. On November 13, 2007, Calypso caused its wholly own subsidiary, Energía Mineral Inc., duly registered in Argentina, to acquire full ownership of such shares. Calypso has now initiated a reorganization which will result in Energía Mineral Inc. Argentine Branch holding 100% of the assets and liabilities of EMSA.
